Francisco Macías Valadez

As an Advisor to NxGen Group, Francisco brings more than five decades of institutional leadership in finance, tax, and corporate governance to the Guatemala Interoceanic Corridor program. He has advised the companies of Grupo Carso, Carlos Slim’s conglomerate, for 40 uninterrupted years, and served on Grupo Carso’s Board of Directors for 25 years — recognition for his contribution to Grupo Sanborns spans more than 50 years.

Francisco built his career at Deloitte, where he has been a partner since 1970. He served as Managing Partner of the firm’s National Tax Practice and its Monterrey, Guadalajara, and Mexico City offices, Managing Partner of Foreign Trade for Mexico and Latin America, and Transfer Pricing Partner, and remains an active retired partner of the firm today.

A former National President of the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants (IMCP), Francisco has held leadership roles across nearly every major accounting and tax institution in Mexico, including the Mexican College of Public Accountants, the Inter-American Accounting Association, and the Mexican Institute of Finance Executives. In 2025, the IMCP awarded him the Rafael Mancera Ortiz Medal, and UNAM’s School of Accounting and Business Administration named a lecture hall in his honor.

He holds degrees in Public Accounting and International Trade, has received four Honorary Doctorates for his contributions to education and tax practice, and is the author of eleven books on Mexican tax administration — including the IMCP’s best-selling title for ten consecutive years.
